Cold rolled steel is fundamentally hot rolled steel that has undergone supplementary processing. Once hot-rolled steel is cooled, it is re-rolled at room temperature to attain more exact dimensions and better surface quality.
"Cold rolled" steel is frequently employed to depict a diversity of refined processing techniques. Nevertheless, from a technical perspective, cold steel rolled merely pertains to sheet metal that is compressed between rollers, such as steel bars or steel tubes, is manufactured by "drawing" instead of rolling. Other cold-finishing techniques encompass turning, grinding, and polishing, each of which is intended to transform existing hot-rolled materials into products of higher quality.
Cold rolled steel usually has the following characteristics:
Steel sheet cold roll has better surface processing quality, higher precision, and stricter tolerance control.
Cold rolled steel plate smooth surface often feels greasy to the touch.
Cold rolled steel bars are in a regular square shape, usually with distinct edges and corners.
Cold rolled steel pipe, cold rolled seamless steel pipe have good concentricity and straight walls.
It is not surprising that the surface properties of cold rolled steel coil spcc are superior to those of hot roll carbon steel, so it is often used in places where higher process precision is required or where appearance aesthetics are important. However, because cold rolled steel products require additional processing procedures, their prices are relatively high.
In terms of physical properties, cold rolled (CR) steel is generally harder and stronger than standard hot-rolled (HR) steel. Due to the work-hardening phenomenon, the hardness, stress-fracture resistance, and deformation-resistance of the metal formed at a lower temperature will all be enhanced.
However, these additional treatments also create internal stresses within the material. If the stress on the steel is not relieved before cutting, grinding or welding, this can lead to unpredictable deformation.
In actual application scenarios, cold rolled steel coils have a wide range of uses. In the automotive manufacturing field, components such as car bodies and frames require high precision forming and good surface quality, and cold rolled steel plates can meet these requirements, ensuring both the aesthetic appearance of the car and sufficient strength for safety. In the manufacturing of precision instruments, such as watches and medical devices, the high precision and good surface properties of cold rolled sheets help to produce precise, small, and durable parts. In the building decoration industry, cold rolled carbon steel coil can be used to make high-end door and window frames, decorative lines, etc., and its smooth surface and regular shape can enhance the overall aesthetics and quality of the building.
